On July 25, 2010 Enbridge's line 6b tarsands pipeline leaked over 800,000 gallons of tar sands oil into the Kalamazoo River in Marshall, Michigan. Today, Enbridge plans to expand that very same pipeline to pump 3x more oil through it (800,000 barrels a day) and connect it to east coast pipelines to eventually (and stealthily) create an international tarsands pipeline, which will not have to undergo federal review.
Join us at Michigan's state capitol to commemorate the anniversary of the costliest inland oil spill in history, and tell our legislators that these expansions are not acceptable.
We will be hosting a human oil spill and press conference on the glass floor of the capitol building in Lansing. We invite everyone to wear black, and will have sign making materials on location. After the press conference we will drop information packets off at several legislators offices to educate them about Enbridge's true plans and urge them to take action.
9:00-10:00 Set up and march around capitol
10:-11:00 Press conference on glass floor
11:00-12:00 Packet drop to state legislators
